Keloid after orthopedic surgery: prevention, current therapy modalities, and emerging therapies modalities

Keloid is a benign fibroproliferative tissue growth that exceeds the initial wound margins. It caused by disruption in healing phase with increased fibroblast activity and excess collagen deposition. usually develops after trauma. Orthopedic surgery inevitably causes trauma will lead to formation of keloids few patients. Keloids can cause cosmetic functional problems, thus interfere person's quality life. therapy modalities are mainly divided into three, which prophylactic modalities, current emerging being developed. This literature review aims evaluate further prevention, therapies following orthopedic surgery.
